- Environment. Projects that positively impact the natural environment, either directly or by promoting awareness of environmental concerns.
- Supply chain. Projects that address processes related to your company's network of retailers, distributors, transporters, storage facilities and suppliers.
- Transactional. Projects that address the processes involved in providing services or non-manufactured products.
- Manufacturing. Projects that address manufacturing-related processes.

- Solving the unsolvable problem. Projects that solve a chronic issue that has been plaguing your company.
- Innovation. Projects that result in a truly innovative solution by using innovation methods such as TRIZ, HRP or TILMAG.
Note that the projects are not industry specific, but categorical as listed above.
Finalists will be showcased by iSixSigma.com and be recognized at an awards breakfast at the iSixSigma Live! Summit and Awards, where the top three finalists and winners will be announced in each category above. Additionally, iSixSigma's readership of more than 500,000 will have an opportunity to vote for their favorite project for the People's Choice Award.
